To help individuals become more employable and self-sufficient, and in turn help break the cycle of poverty and hunger, the Kauai Food Bank offers job training and skill building to numerous volunteers and temporary employees in our warehouse and office. We’ve partnered with organizations like Alu Like (a native Hawaiian job training program), welfare to work programs, Friendship Club, and others to get referrals for volunteers and temporary employees. Many graduates of the program go on to gain employment with local businesses. From January 2003 to December 2005, nearly 4,000 hours were spent training volunteers and temporary employees. |
