I have been a
Director at the Food Bank since
Hurricane Iniki affected so many
people in 1992. I saw good
people instantly hurt
financially, and because of the lack of
food become depressed and
unproductive. One of the best
policies of the Kauai Food Bank is
that they do not discriminate
against anyone who is hungry or in
need of food. I feel strongly that
any productive person must start
his/her day with a good meal. |

The recently
joined the Kauai
Food Bank Board because I was familiar
with the important work the KFB
does to feed Kauai's hungry.
KFB's commitment to 'provide
food for the hungry, respond to
emergencies and eliminate
Hunger' on Kauai is shared by
all involved from the staff,
management, partners,
volunteers, donors and
supporters of this fine organization.
The KFB mission is clear; it is
a well-run organization, and I
am proud to contribute to this
important work. |

The Kauai
Food Bank is one organization that has
no pretenses. Their core mission is to
provide food to our
Kauai residents who are
hungry. The Board, staff, agencies and
volunteers are committed to this mission
and will allow nothing to stand in their
way. As a 25 year Marriott veteran
devoted to our “Spirit to Serve” motto,
I understand how very important it is
for our businesses and employees to
partner with and support the local
community. The Kauai Food Bank and the
Kauai Marriott share this
core value. It is my pleasure to provide
the connection for the Marriott
organization to support the Kauai Food
Bank in this very personal way. |

At
the Kaua'i Foodbank we look forward
to the day when: • No
child goes to school hungry or
undernourished. • Our
kupuna don't have to chose between
buying food or buying
needed medications. •
Families or individuals who are
temporarily down on
their luck are at least food-secure.
• When that day comes, we
will gladly close our doors
and celebrate!. |

Prior
to being on the Board of Kauai
Food Bank, I served as their financial
auditor and came to respect and
admire the job that Executive
Director Judy Lenthall and her
crew were doing. They are tireless
in their dedication to eliminate
hunger on Kauai. I believe everyone
has a responsibility to give back
to their community and I feel
there is no better organization
on Kauai.

At first I was reluctant to join the Kauai Food Bank because I have so many other community organizations that I support. As I began to know and understand the mission of the Kauai Food bank, I realize the tremendous importance of its work. The amount of hungry Kauai citizens that the Kauai Food Bank feeds each year is staggering. Even more surprising is the number of elders and youth that receive food from the Food Bank. Now I feel that I'm really contributing to the community in a very dutiful way.
